# Scannable

> Scannable is a Safety Equipment Management System for the safety industry — a mobile-first platform that replaces spreadsheets, paper checklists, and brand-locked apps for teams managing PPE and life-critical equipment. Scan equipment with a phone (NFC, QR, or data matrix), record inspections in the field, and pull audit-ready compliance reports in minutes. Brand-agnostic, per-item pricing, with 70,000+ items of equipment pre-loaded in a global equipment database.

Scannable serves two primary audiences:

- **Equipment Owners** — health and safety managers, supervisors, and teams who own and operate safety equipment. Industries include rope access, fire and emergency, arboriculture, construction, rescue, tower, telecoms, renewables, mining, oil and gas, marine, energy, government, training centres, lifting, and events/rigging.
- **PPE Manufacturers** — equipment producers building **Smart PPE™**: equipment with a digital ID (NFC tag or QR code) embedded at production, holding serial, batch, expiry, manufacturer documents and full inspection history. Scannable provides the infrastructure to serialise products, encode tags, manage SKUs, and distribute compliance data — preparing manufacturers for the EU's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirements being phased in 2026–2030.

Professional inspectors, competent persons, and PPE resellers use **Scannable Pro** as a channel into the Equipment Owner motion — managing client inventories, issuing inspection certificates, and reselling alongside equipment.

The product is relevant to compliance with LOLER (UK), PUWER (UK), OSHA (US), WHS (AU), IRATA standards, SPRAT standards, and Arboricultural Association guidelines. Scannable holds ISO/IEC 27001 certification and GDPR attestation.

Scannable was founded in 2020 by Rob Stirling, who spent his career designing and manufacturing safety equipment and watched the same problem repeat itself: brilliant gear handed to teams with no proper system for managing it. Co-founder and CTO Gene Dower joined in 2021. The company is headquartered in Wānaka, New Zealand, with a remote team across NZ, UK, USA, Canada, and Europe.
